Aspartam merupakan salah satu jenis\u00a0pemanis buatan\u00a0yang kerap ditemukan dalam minuman soda diet. Namun, belum lama ini, Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) mengklasifikasikan\u00a0aspartam\u00a0sebagai pemanis buatan yang berpotensi karsinogenik atau pemicu kanker. Haruskah orang-orang menjauhi soda diet?<\/p>\n<p>Kabar baiknya, orang-orang tak perlu memusuhi soda diet hanya karena minuman tersebut mengandung pemanis buatan yang berpotensi karsinogenik. Menurut WHO, potensi karsinogenik dari pemanis buatan hanya akan dirasakan oleh orang-orang yang mengonsumsi 9-14 kaleng soda diet setiap hari.<\/p>\n<p>Selain pada minuman soda diet, aspartam juga banyak digunakan dalam berbagai jenis produk makanan dan minuman rendah gula. Beberapa di antaranya adalah es krim dan permen karet. Untuk inidividu dengan berat badan 70 kilogram, batas maksimal konsumsi aspartam dalam satu hari adalah sekitar 2.800 miligram. Sebagai perbandingan, satu kaleng Diet Coke mengandung sekitar 200 miligram aspartam.<\/p>\n<p>Direktur Departemen Gizi dan Keamanan Pangan WHO, Dr Francesco Branca, menilai potensi karsinogenik pada aspartam patut diwaspadai. Akan tetapi, orang-orang tak perlu khawatir untuk mengonsumsi soda diet atau produk lain yang mengandung aspartam bila hanya sesekali.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kami tak mengimbau konsumen untuk berhenti mengonsumsi (aspartam) sepenuhnya.
