Sikap positif dan tidak takut pada stres cenderung berbarengan dengan strategi penanggulangan terbaik.<\/p>\n<p>Dosen senior di Departemen Anatomi dan Ilmu Saraf di UCC, Olivia O&#8217;Leary, University College Cork, Irlandia, juga menyoroti stres bisa bersifat positif ketika dikelola dengan baik. Itu karena aktivasi jangka pendek dari respons stres.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Aktivasi biologis menginduksi pelepasan energi serta meningkatkan kewaspadaan dan fokus otak, yang dapat membantu seseorang optimal dalam ujian, ketika memberikan presentasi kepada klien penting, atau memenuhi tenggat waktu yang ketat,&#8221; kata O&#8217;Leary.<\/p>\n<p>Namun, bila terlalu sering diaktifkan, stres memang dapat memengaruhi seseorang secara negatif. Sama seperti obat-obatan, di mana dosis kecil bermanfaat, namun terlalu banyak dapat membahayakan. Kortisol yang terus meningkat akibat stres berkepanjangan pun dapat menyebabkan penumpukan lemak, terutama di area perut.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stres juga bisa membuat sulit tidur, yang berdampak pada suasana hati dan kinerja kognitif. Ini dapat berdampak negatif pada fungsi pencernaan dan kekebalan tubuh, karena energi dialihkan dari sistem yang dianggap kurang penting ke bagian tubuh yang menghadapi tantangan stres langsung,&#8221; ucapnya.<\/p>\n<p>Karena itu, amat perlu mengidentifikasi sumber stres guna mengatasinya secara efektif.
