Masak tanpa garam rasanya tentu hambar. Namun ingat, konsumsi garam tidak boleh berlebih karena bisa sebabkan berbagai penyakit, salah satunya hipertensi. Bagaimana cara mengurangi konsumsi garam?<\/p>\n<p>Ahli Gizi dan Dosen Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Esa Unggul-Jakarta, Nazhif Gifari, SGz, MSi menjelaskan salah satu caranya adalah dengan bijak garam. Yaitu aktivitas mengurangi\u00a0konsumsi garam\u00a0dengan menambah Monosodium glutamat (MSG) ke dalam masakan agar rasa masakan tetap enak.<\/p>\n<p>Nazhif mengatakan bijak garam dengan\u00a0MSG\u00a0bisa dilakukan dengan mengurangi takaran garam yang biasa Anda tambahakan. Misalnya biasa menambahkan dua sendok teh garam, kurangi menjadi satu sendok teh garam. MSG adalah garam sodium dari asam glutamat. MSG bukan zat yang asing bagi tubuh.&#8221;Asam glutamat inilah yang menjadi sumber rasa Umami pada MSG,&#8221; ungkapnya.<\/p>\n<p>Asam glutamat termasuk asam amino non esensial yang bisa diproduksi sendiri oleh tubuh di hati. Selain itu, MSG banyak terdapat pada makanan yang mengandung protein.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Secara alami asam glutamat terdapat dam makanan kita sehari-hari seperti daging, ikan, telur, susu (termasuk ASI), keju, tomat, dan berbagai macam sayuran,&#8221; ujar Nazhif.<\/p>\n<p>Kapan boleh menambahkan MSG? Menurut Nazhif saat persiapan masak, saat memasak atau saat menghidangkan.<\/p>\n<p>Nazhif mengungkapkan banyak isu negatif terkait MSG. Misalnya MSG menyebabkan lemah otak atau lemot, micin bikin bodoh, merusak janin, obesitas, kanker, asma dan sakit kepala. Namun semua itu menurutnya tidak benar. Bahkan Kementerian Kesehatan RI dan BPOM menyatakan MSG aman dan penggunaannya diizinkan.<\/p>\n<p>Ia mengungkapkan beberapa mitos dan fakta MSG. Mitosnya MSG menggangu fungsi dan kerja otak. Mitos lain terkait MSG menurut Nazhif, meningkatkan risiko penyakit kanker. Faktanya tidak ada kaitan antara keduanya, yaitu MSG dengan potensi penyakit kanker.<\/p>\n<p>Adapula mitos MSG menjadi pemicu kelebihan BB atau obesitas. Faktanya konsumsi MSG tidak berhubungan dengan penambahan berat badan secara signifikan setelah disesuaikan dengan usia, jenis kelamin berbagai faktor gaya hidup dan asupan energi.<\/p>\n<p>Tips batasi konsumsi garam yaitu:<\/p>\n<p>1. Baca label makanan di kemasan<\/p>\n<p>2. Beli makanan segar<\/p>\n<p>3. Perbanyak konsumsi sayur dan buah<\/p>\n<p>4. Batasi makanan kalengan<\/p>\n<p>5.
