Masalah ini bermula dari gugatan duo elektronik asal Prancis peraih Grammy Awards, Justice, yang menuding tulisan “Justice” di sampul album baru Bieber itu meniru lambang band mereka.<\/p>\n

Mereka mendasarkan argumen itu dari bentuk huruf “t” dalam Justice yang sama-sama diubah menjadi salib. Tim hukum Justice pun mengirimkan surat resmi ke Bieber.<\/p>\n

“Penggunaan tanda itu ilegal. Anda tak punya izin dari Justice untuk memakai tanda itu. Lebih jauh, karya Bieber juga tak berkaitan, didukung, atau disponsori oleh Justice,” demikian surat tim hukum Justice yang dilihat Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n

Pernyataan itu berlanjut, “Penggunaan simbol itu tak hanya ilegal, tapi juga dapat membingungkan pelanggan.”<\/p>\n

Manajer Justice, Tyler Goldberg, sendiri mengaku menerima banyak pesan dari penggemar yang kebingungan dengan simbol di sampul album Bieber.<\/p>\n

“Justice menerima banyak pesan yang mempertanyakan kemiripan album Justice Justin Bieber. Mereka bingung [dan berpikir], ‘Apakah ini kolaborasi dengan Justice?'” ucap Goldberg seperti dikutip The Guardian.<\/p>\n

Tim manajemen Bieber mengklaim bahwa desain logo itu tak melanggar hak cipta tanda salib Justice.<\/p>\n

Namun, Justice mengklaim bahwa tim manajemen Bieber sebenarnya sudah menghubungi mereka pada April 2020 lalu untuk menanyakan desainer pembuat logo mereka. Namun kemudian, tim manajemen Bieber putus komunikasi.<\/p>\n
